skin cancer???

i have an appointment with the dermatologist today, and i'm really dreading it. i have a couple of places on my cheek that need to be biopsied.

actually, i have HAD a couple of places on my cheek that should have been checked months ago, but i neglected to make an appointment.

then i came across this:

(joseph p. gaines)

this is a photo of my granddad years ago after he'd had skin cancer removed. when i found this photo, i happened to think that my mom had said something several years ago about having a place on her face on which she needed to have her doctor check.
genetics!!!

hence, i called her and asked if she had ever done so. yes, she had; and, yes, it was skin cancer. i told her i had a couple of small scabbed places, which had not healedbut had remained on my face for months. she told me that hers were more like flat moles... for a moment, i thought, whew, maybe mine are not cancerous at all!!!

then, she said, "but, daddy's were scabbed like yours. i remember him saying that he pulled the scabs off but that they kept returning."

my granddad ended up with a scar nearly the size of the bandage in the above photo. i asked mom why his scar was so large. she told me that his doctor ended up having to do a skin graft because the cancer had spread...

whimper!!!

will you all say a prayer that i don't have skin cancer... but that if i do, that it is contained to just the two little spots, please???

i will let you know what the doctor says:/

love and God's blessings,
dani xx

Just a week ago my mom went in to have some spots removed on her back and neck. Once of them was cancer....but fortunately they were able to cut it out completely.

I will pray that you too will be OK. The important thing is that you are going in to get it taken care of.

Be brave :)

Prayers and a hug. Don't worry okay. It will be fine. But at least you are doing it now and not later.

Oooh, that's not good. I'm sure you've caught everything in time, and everything will be fine, but crap, the waiting is just so scary!
My thoughts are with you sweet friend:)

I just had a scab thing burned off my arm Tues that I've had for probably 8 months. He didn't biopsy it or anything, just burned the freaking crap out of it. My dad has had skin cancer in at least 15 different spots. I am so fair skinned & living in AZ doesn't help. I am really prone to it..
You'll be fine. It's ok... I'll be thinking about you.
