guess who visited the lane...

ike!!!

as in hurricane ike!!!
WTHeck???

and he was still packing one heck of a punch!!!

the power has just recently been restored here on the lane,
but there are 7000 homes still without it in our city limits.

and, finally, a state of emergency has been declared for the entire state of kentucky...

our unexpected guest

(hurricane ike made landfall 950 miles southeast of us;
and was still categorized when he reached the ohio valley)

caused transformers to blow, trees to fall, and debris to scatter as he travelled through our town!!!

don't get me wrong;
i know that what we experienced today
was nothing in comparison
to those living on the gulf coast!!!
but, WOW!!! what a storm!!!

it's been an interesting day in our neck of the woods:o

(front yard)

(back/side yard)

has he visited you???

love and blessings,
dani xx
*****update: katherine has school today. however, every school system around us has cancelled classes due to ike. i am quite certain this is the first time ever classes have been cancelled in kentucky and indiana as a result of a hurricane!!!

2 things, no 3 things.
Firstly, Im so glad that you're ok and that it wasn't too bad where it hit you.

Secondly, I was ROFLMAO at your Wizard of Oz music! Very appropriate!

Thirdly, It was so cool to hear what you sound like! LOL!!

Have a great Week!!

It was scary here, Mommay :/
I was like :O
And then, I went to sleep and took a lovely two hour nap because I was too scared to stay awake.
:]
It looks like that around my house, too. It was scary around the time I came out of church...trees were all down in the park and I was like...:/
Yikes.

I had to call my friend Randy after watching your video. They live out in the county in Hebardsville. They got a lot of wind also.

Glad you didn't blow away!

Glad there wasn't more damage there. He came a little too close for comfort down here - but we were very fortunate that it stayed north of San Antonio and am still watching the destruction and mess he made in Houston and Dallas.

Take care - Kellan

Glad all is well at the lane! Not downplaying Ike but I really wish we had a massive storm about now. Wayy to much sunshine here in LV.

Finally, get to hear the famous Dani's voice! :-)

PS. I don't know Jill and Michelle's last names. I know they still live in Henderson and I think Michelle is married to a cop. They both are school teachers as well, one middle and one elementary..

I can't find your I list. I must have missed it. Well I loved it :)

Sorry if you have to spend the day cleaning up around the house. I thought of you first thing this morning.

Hi Dani ~ just checking back in and saw your update about the school situation ~ I hope all is well with you! I have checked the news, but it doesn't mention Kentucky ~ so hope all is well.
I popped over this morning and read your 'I' post ~ but I did not have time to comment ~ as I was going on the school run!! I have popped back over now and it is gone ! OR maybe I have gone mad ha ha !! I thought it was great anyway!! I am sure that you mentioned that you had shingles again ~ so I hope that you are ok ~ sending you lots of love and a big hug all the way from here!!

I just talked to my mom, and bless their hearts, a HUGE elm tree from the back yard fell onto their new addition and on the garage, knocking all of their electricity out for who knows how long. I'm coming in for my daddy's birthday, so I'm hoping things are normal so we can enjoy our visit. My last visit was so hectic with issues with my grandmother, and I'm really hoping to just spend time with my parentals! :) So glad that you didn't receive much damage!
Love,
C
P.S.--KUDOS to Kat on those straight A's!!! AWESOME!
P.P.S.--I'm anxiously awaiting our Monday Mosses!

I must say though, the back of your house is so beautiful & green. Wow!! And I love the look of your house. It's just so cute. I would love a house like that. You don't see them here in AZ much at all...

I'm glad Ike only paid a brief visit to the Lane and that he only left a few broken branches behind.

Great to hear your voice!

Love,
Tania
PS: how do you convert your videos to show them on Blogger?
